TOBI GARDNER GAY
Tobi Gardner Gay, 64, wife of Savannah native Charles Edward Gay IV, died Monday, January 28, 2008, at their home in Batesville, Va.
Born January 8, 1944, in New York City, she entered the advertising agency business where she met her husband of 41 years. She resided for most of her adult life in Stamford, Connecticut, raising her two children and participating in numerous community activities, including service on the Stamford Chapter of UNICEF's Board of Directors, as Chairperson of the Stamford Chapter Boy Scouts of America and volunteer work in the Stamford Public Schools.
She and her husband chose to spend their retirement in Virginia, moving to the Charlottesville area in 1999, where she was an active member of the Newcomers Club.
In addition to her husband, her three great loves were her family, her cats and the retail jewelry business, and she pursued them with much devotion. She had a special gift of warmth that attracted people to her, and she established lasting bonds of friendship wherever she went.
